Resistance: Fall of Man – Standing as one of the PS3′s launch titles, Fall of Man takes place in an alternate history and begins in Europe, with strange sightings and disappearances attributed to inhuman experiments being conducted in Russia. The truth is quickly revealed as an invasion force of aliens immediately begins seizing control of the unsuspecting European territories. As the role of a soldier in the European theater of combat, you’ll fight your way through the monstrous invasion force and do your best to slow them down before all is lost.

Borderlands – Borderlands is a first person shooter/RPG game developed by Gearbox Software. The art style of this game is rendered in cell-shaded style, giving it a very animated and somewhat cartoony feel, not that this is a bad thing for most, but it may represent an obstacle if cell-shaded isn’t to your liking. On a world reminiscent of the Wild West and far, far away from Earth, you have the option of choosing from a rag tag group of colonists that each has their own special skills. If running and gunning is your preferred style, you’ll likely find the soldier as your favorite character class. Rather have stealth and speed over brute force? Try your hand at the siren class, who specializes in quick movements and electric-based powers.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots – The final chapter in video game legend Solid Snakes story. Take control of the veteran soldier for one last mission as he tries to stop the private military organization headed up by his nemesis, Liquid Ocelot, and stop him once and for all. If you’re familiar with the Metal Gear saga, then this is the game that brings the main story to a close. Make your way across several continents while meeting up with many familiar faces from earlier in the series. Some will become your allies while others will stand against you. Being one of the best PS3 games, in the end the story will leave you speechless.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune – An Indiana Jones for a new generation, Drakes Fortune is the first of the Uncharted games and helped make the overall series what it is today. Taking control of explorer Nathan Drake as he searches for the legendary city of gold El Dorado, Uncharted is a rare instance of a platforming game in an age of first person shooters and RPGs. Although it features many platform-game elements, it mostly feels and plays like a 3rd person adventure, with awe-inspiring environments that may distract often from the true goal at hand.

The PlayStation 3 has many great games that fill just about every genre type there is. The HD display really shines with many games that were developed specifically for the system, and it’s very apparent just how much painstaking detail had to go into every moment of them. If you enjoy games that feel more like interactive stories that submerge you deep in the jungles of some far off lost world, or the dreary and empty void of space, give some of these titles a try.

Shadow Of The Colossus – This game revolves around a hero, who must defeat 16 massive creatures called ‘Colossi’ in order to break the spell on an eternally sleeping princess. The setting features a dark, eerie world and dark underlying story elements that will surprise you in the end. What sets this game apart is that the games bosses, the colossi, serve as the levels as well. You’ll have to develop clever tactics and make use of everything available to you in order to conquer this game.

God Of War – Borrowing elements from Greek mythology, God of War and its sequel God of War II feature Kratos, a disgraced Spartan warrior. The game follows his story as he fights figures from Greek legends such as Zeus, the god of thunder, and Ares, the god of war. The game plays as a ‘hack and slash’, meaning you’ll be fighting countless enemies in swarms, becoming more powerful and gaining new abilities and weapons to help you on your quest to claim vengeance against the gods.

Kingdom Hearts – Perhaps aimed towards the younger crowd, Kingdom Hearts is a story combining characters from Disney and Square Enix (The makers of Final Fantasy). An odd combination that actually works out well. You’ll battle shadowy monstrosities known as the ‘Heartless’ in order to stop their overall plan to claim the hearts of Disney princesses. As strange as it sounds, the gameplay is quite good and the story is woven in an interesting manner.

Disgaea – A game that probably isn’t as well-known as many other RPGs, Disgaea revolves around a demon named Laharl as he tries to conquer the Netherworld from other demons who desire to claim it as their own. Disgaea is a tactical RPG, played from an overhead manner. The gameplay is much like an elaborate chess game, with your warriors constantly destroying other warriors in order to claim victory. This is a long one, and to beat everything will take well over 60 hours.

Okami – Okami is portrayed as an oil-painting driven story of an ancient tale from Japanese myth. You’ll play the role of a goddess in the form of a wolf as she desperately tries to destroy the darkness that threatens existence. Combining RPG and free roaming elements, Okami is best described as a work of art in motion, and definitely stands out as one of the best PS2 games.

Devil May Cry – Another hack and slash, feature a demon hunter known as Dante. Your quest will take you to an ancient castle where monsters are running rampant. Using your legendary sword and twin guns, you must send these demonic beings back where they came from, and find out just what has released them in the first place.

These are just a handful of the best PS2 games. There are dozens, possibly hundreds more titles that could be included on this list, but when it comes down to it every individual gamer will have different opinions of what the best PS2 games are. If you don’t see a title on this list that fits your style, try others. You’re sure to find a game that you enjoy above all others.

John and I have previously taken our summer holidays in Cornwall, I genuinely love the place but preferably when the weather is reasonable, I can remember previous years there when we seemed to spend half our days in Marks & Spencers in Truro trying our best to dodge those persistent rain showers. It used to be the same for my parents too, they also love to holiday in Cornwall and they still continue to go there, they do though seem to cope with the sometimes adverse weather a little better than John and I do.

I can now appreciate especially as I have children of my own just how much planning and organizing has to go into a holiday especially when our children are concerned. Take my Rebecca for example, I really love her to bits but she used to be a proper right little madam if she was not happy especially when we were away on our holiday “I want to go home now!” she used to yell, I can still hear her dulcet tones now, heaven forbid but the last thing any parent needs is to be in one of these type of situations when they are miles away from home.

I came to the conclusion years ago that taking a young child away on holiday needs the same planning as a military operationplanning along the same lines as a military operation}. When my Rebbecca was a baby we took her on some fantastic holidays and I made sure that for her sake, mine and John’s that we had things well organized. We taught Rebecca to swim from a very tender age and so I made sure we took along some baby swim nappies with us, what a blessing they were. It took us ages to find them too; I finally found some online at The Kids Bedroom Shop they managed to get them delivered to us in the nick of time, phew! The Kids Bedroom Shop have come to my rescue many times, I now use them for all my Childrens Bedroom Furniture and I’ve even bought Rebecca a beautiful Wooden Dolls House but you don’t always think of them for items like Baby Swim Nappies or something like a Baby Travel Cot.

Baby Travel Cots have moved on a lot since when we first bought ours so I can fully recommend you go online at The Kids Bedroom Shop and check them out, a Pop Up Travel Cot might even be more to your liking, they are really small, very transportable and if you use them at home first you will ensure your Baby will be sleeping in a familiar bed when you are away on holiday.

For once this year I am really looking forward not to going to Cornwall, I can’t wait to meet Mickey Mouse.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess – The Wii’s first Zelda entry, Twilight Princess puts you once again into the familiar brown boots of Hyrules savior, Link. Traversing the massive and mysterious kingdom in order to vanquish a dark race of monsters known as the ‘Twili’. The catch, this time Link is transformed into a wolf form, and must team up with the imp ‘Midna’ in order to restore his body and return Hyrule to a peaceful state once again.

Metroid Prime 3 – This is the last game in the Prime trilogy of Metroid games. Playing as the bounty hunter, Samus Aran, as she travels through intergalactic space to find the source of a corruptive substance known as Phazon. You’ll travel to multiple planets along your journey, each with their own unique environments and enemies. Collecting powerups and items is essential in this game, as the enemies become progressively tougher and tougher right up till the final confrontation.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword – The second entry of the Zelda series on the Wii, Skyward Sword takes place right at the beginning of the Zelda timeline. Take control of Link for the very first time as he discovers his destiny and true potential as the hero of time. Traveling from the magical world in the sky, known as Skyloft, Link will travel down to the dark and monster-ravaged kingdom on the surface to battle bosses and conquer temples. While not the same style as many of the Zelda games before it, Skyward Sword is still an impressive entry into the series and definitely stands as one of the best Wii games.

Super Mario Galaxy – The familiar plumber in blue overalls is back, and this time he’s taken to the stars. Leave the Earth behind as Mario chases Bowser into space and tries to bring back Princess Peach safe and sound. You’re not in the Mushroom Kingdom anymore; the levels in this Mario game consist of different galaxies and planets you can travel to. Interacting with friendly aliens, avoiding disastrous black holes, and fighting massive bosses, this is definitely a great Mario game to own.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl – The third entry in the popular fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Choose between dozens of your favorite Nintendo characters as they duke it out to find out who is the strongest once and for all. Featuring a lengthy story mode, which will help you unlock even more characters and stages for use, this game is packed full of content that any die-hard Nintendo fan will enjoy. A trophy, biographies, fun gameplay, this game literally has it all. An absolute must have for your Wii collection.

This is far from my favorite blogging topic, my regular readers know that I love to write about children and parenthood so The Kibworth Savers Club is a very different topic for me but I just couldn’t resist, once I knew all the facts.

I am presuming everybody has heard of the south Leicestershire village of Kibworth, if so did you know there are 2 separate villages comprising Kibworth, they are Kibworth Harcourt and Kibworth Beauchamp and I believe they are separated by a brook that runs parallel to the busy A6 main road. Both villages of Kibworth were both brought to national fame in the recent BBC4 series hosted by the rather dashing Michael Wood, I missed the series myself but my best friend who I shall call Kate (not her real name) lent me the DVD which I am still watching at the time of writing.

Kate has lived in Kibworth all of her life and is very passionate about the village and there is not much going on there that she doesn’t know much about. I am not from Kibworth, I don’t even live in Leicestershire but I have stayed with Kate on several occasions and I must admit it is a fantastic village, my husband John also has a soft spot for the village but I suspect its because he is mad on golf and rather rates the local golf club, myself I just cannot see why men seem to enjoy so much the idea of hitting a ball into a hole with a large stick that costs an arm and a leg, but “Hey ho” as they say, that’s life for you.

So what’s all this got to do with The Kibworth Savers Club and exactly what is The Kibworth Savers Club. Well, to the best of my knowledge The Kibworth Savers Club isn’t really a club at all in the true sense of the word but is really a mission set up by a resident Kibworth businessman who is now absolutely convinced that so many of us are spending far too much of our money quite unnecessarily. His mission I am told began when one of his regular shop customers quite literally asked him how much his shop overheads were costing and would he like to reduce them, he was I am told quite amazed by the savings he was starting to make and also started to make some big savings off his household bills. Maybe his mission to help Kibworth people save money is to further ingratiate his Kibworth business interests, or maybe I am just being cynical. Now I regard myself as being pretty shrewd with Money, it’s far too precious to waste in my opinion but I have to admit the so called Kibworth Savers Club has certainly changed my spending habits, you certainly don’t have to be confined to live in Kibworth to take advantage either, John, my better half is a fan as well as he has now got some more of our precious money left over to fuel his golf habit.

How come I know all this you might be asking yourself, well, it was my friend Kate who inadvertently started the whole thing when she asked the Kibworth businessman how much he was spending, you can blame her for The Kibworth Savers Club, or perhaps thank her.

Little Big Planet is one such game that an individual can enjoy.  This particular game was designed especially for PS Vita.  A multi-developer who works for Tarsier Studios, Sony XDev based in Europe and Double Eleven Limited are recognized for creating this game.  The release of several series in this game will allow one to follow the adventures of Sack Boy.

Yet another great PS Vita game is Army Corps of Hell.  Entersphere Inc happens to be the brain behind this particular game.  It is an action game which is bound to thrill.  It takes the player to a fierce combat involving goblin soldiers and their enemies.  The aim of this battle is to reclaim the throne as King of Hell.

People who cannot get enough of horror games which also involve love and survival have not been left out in the cold.  The Silent Hill series will continue to excite lovers of this game – this is due to the current installment called Book of Memories.  It gives individuals an isometric view, creatures that recur from preceding series and a great storyline to follow.  A unique feature of this release is that it is the first of its kind to facilitate game play involving many players.

Ben 10 Galactic Racing is a great game one can enjoy thanks to PS Vita.  Monkey Bar Games is behind the release of this game that involves racing.  One can use the alien forms of Ben 10 in the Grand Prix circuits.  The game was released in North America in November 2011.  More gaming consoles are also available in this specific series.

Uncharted Golden Abyss is among the top new PS Vita Games that were released. The game offers flexible game play for its fans.  Sony has ensured that this game is available so that players can have unlimited fun. Nathan Drake remains the protagonist in this exciting story.  Golden Abyss sets the pace for the release of Drake`s Fortune.  The story will take one through a quest together with Nathan Drake to unearth the mystery of a Spanish team bloodbath.  The massacre took place close to 400 years back and one tries to solve a deadly problem among an ancient Spanish sect.

Kid Icarus : Uprising
